Saucony ProGrid Omni 8 is a Stability running shoe that has a bit more support than the average Stability shoe, yet was updated this year to have softer cushioning than prior models. The Omni 8 was given the Editor’s Choice award in the Runners World Summer 2009 Shoe Guide.
One thing notable about this year’s Saucony ProGrid Omni 8 is that Saucony finally combined the two versions of the Omni, and decided to go with a single Omni version. The two Omni running shoes used to be the Omni Moderate and the Omni Ultimate. The Omni 8, being a Stability shoe, is closer in function to the Omni Moderate, as the Ultimate was for severe overpronators and was more of a Motion Control running shoe. Cushioning tests have shown that the Omni 8 has more cushioning than both of the Omni predecessors.
The Saucony ProGrid Omni 8 can closely be compared to the Brooks Adrenaline in function. Some of the shoe features include anti-microbial treatment to the insoles to help keep the stink away along with the memory foam sockliner. The real support in the shoe comes from the medial post being extended further towards the back of the shoe.
