For the most cushioned Nike shoe out there, go no further than the Nike Zoom Vomero+ 5. The Nike Zoom Vomero+ 5 falls into the Neutral category of running shoes, and it could be a great match for you if you have a Neutral to Underpronator running style with normal to high arches.

I’ve heard some good reviews from heavier runners who have great luck with this shoe. The soft ride should be able to keep knees and feet in good shape. The women’s shoe weighs in at 9.8 ounces and the men’s comes in at 11.6 ounces, more on the specific weight reduction in the men’s shoe below.

With this shoe’s predecessor, the Vomero 4, being a very popular shoe and well liked for its soft ride and good bounce, not a lot of change was needed to deliver a quality Vomero 5. But as always, there is always the pursuit of perfection.

Improvements in the Nike Zoom Vomero 5

Some of the improvements in the Vomero 5 is the addition of a Injected Phylon (IP) pressure path under the arch to help keep the foot in contact with the ground, which provides a little added stability and guidance. The crash pad has also been changed to be more segmented, to better absorb the shock when you stride and land on your heel as a part of your running gait.

You may notice a familiar sight wrapping the arch, which looks like it was inspired by Nike Flywire, and is designed to connect the laces to the midsole to help provide a secure fit. These bands are made of plastic to keep the weight down.

The upper is also constructed using no-sew techniques, to reduce the possibility of any irritation.

The weight was reduced from last year’s Vomero 4, but only in the men’s model, where they shaved 0.8 ounces, from 12.4 oz to 11.6 oz. The women’s model maintains the same weight of 9.8 ounces.
