Winner of Best Update from Runners World Spring 2010 Shoe Guide

The Nike Zoom Structure Triax+ 13 was given the Best Update award by Runners World in their Spring 2010 Running Shoe guide. The features that were updated to earn this award are an improved crash pad to better absorb shock and moderate pronation, as well as an upper with minimal material which shaves some weight. The medial post was also updated to be more substantial to be more supportive. The addition of a heel-strap overlay attached to the laces for great heel locking and a secure fit in the women’s model is another great update.

Womens’ version of the Structure Triax+ 13

The women’s version of the Zoom Structure Triax+ 13 has some notable differences from the men’s shoe. Because women are usually lighter than men, the women’s version of the shoe was designed to be less stiff.

Also, the women’s version has an arch band not found on the men’s shoe. With a couple different eyelets, this allows you to choose the best fit to your own foot. How does the shoe compare to other Stability shoes?

The Nike Zoom Structure Triax+ 13 is a lightweight shoe in the Stability category that had some significant design changes from last year that look like they are on the right track.

As a comparison to another shoe in the Stability category, the Asics Gel Kayano 16, the Structure Triax+ 13 would fall into a light stability category, while the Kayano 16 would fall into the moderate stability category. So if you have shin splits or knee problems, the Kayano 16 would probably be a better option. But if you don’t have problems and are more interested in a softer midsole that still falls within the Stability category of shoes, the Triax+ 13 may be a perfect option.

This update to the Triax weighs in at 11.3 oz for men’s, 9.5 oz for women’s. As we’ve all come to expect from Nike, the Triax 13 is also a Nike+ compatible shoe.
