It’s ugly as heck, but who cares? The Mizuno Wave Inspire 10 is a stability shoe ─ for runners with average arch height ─ that is unbelievably light while also providing exemplary support.
In other words, you don’t judge a book by its cover if the inside pages are works of art.
So light, so right
At 9 ounces for men and 7.6 for women (no, that’s not a typo), the 10th installment in this stability series is roughly an ounce lighter than the Inspire 9. Wow.
It’s amazing that runners report adequate or better stability from such a light shoe. Many users are impressed with the shoe’s decent durability, too.
New midsole improves overall ride
The new U4ic midsole (sounds like a spaceship, doesn’t it?) is 30 percent lighter than previous midsoles, yet durability and ride haven’t been sacrificed. Bonus: a midsole ventilation system nips humidity in the bud. Very important.
Mizuno’s unique Wave technology includes an ultra-springy cushioning material and a midfoot plate that keeps the shoe supportive in all the right ways. Both are well-liked features.
Another important boon is the Smooth Ride system. Deep flex grooves – the women’s version has additional grooves – afford runners exceptional foot fluidity, balance and start-stop regulation.
Not to be outdone, the men get a wider base for their version of the Inspire 10.
Highly functional, highly ugly
There’s no sugarcoating this shoe’s look. It’s u-g-l-y. But there’s also some upside. Light mesh blankets the entire upper, affording users a cool, dry run. And details such as stretch material in the forefoot keep the shoe highly functional, if not attractive.
At $115, the Mizuno Wave Inspire 10 is a great purchase for serious hoofers who want to actually RUN in their running shoes, not just walk around town and look cool.
Don’t forget to learn about the previous model, the Mizuno Wave Inspire 9.
