Why is this Stability shoe so lightweight?

One part of understanding how Mizuno builds its Stability shoes like the Mizuno Wave Inspire 6 is to understand what the “Wave” in the shoe name means. The Mizuno Wave technology is used in the design of the midsole. While other companies use flat materials to absorb impact, Mizuno uses a wave-like cushioning structure that takes impact at a particular point and spreads it out along the length and width of the midsole. This Mizuno Wave is found in all of Mizuno’s running shoes. In the Mizuno Wave Inspire 6 specifically, to get the extra Stability needed, it moves to a composite constructed double wave design.

Another factor keeping the weight down is the lightweight breathable mesh that Mizuno uses for the construction of the upper. While this might not be great as a shoe for winter running when its cold, for most runners, having a very breathable shoe is a big plus to help keep feet cool, dry, and healthy.

Also, as mentioned previously, the low profile and practical upper design rounds out the methods used to keep the weight down in the shoe. For the actual weight numbers, the men’s running shoe weighs in at 11.0 ounces and the women’s shoe weighs in at 8.8 ounces.

How does the Mizuno Wave Inspire 6 compare to other quality Stability shoes?

One of the most popular Stability running shoes is the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10. The Wave Inspire 6 compared to the Adrenaline GTS 10 shows that the Adrenaline GTS 10 has more overall stability, but the Inspire 6 has more cushioning. The Wave Inspire is a slightly lighter shoe, 0.1 ounce lighter for the men’s version, and 0.4 ounces lighter for the women’s version.

I would recommend the Mizuno Wave Inspire 6 for someone with normal to low arches, not above average weight, who overpronates a little but not severely, and is looking for a lightweight Stability shoe.
