Brooks running shoes go green
In staying green, Brooks will be converting most running shoe models by the end of 2009 to their BioMoGo midsoles, which is touted to break down at a much quicker rate in a landfills then standard running shoe midsoles. There is a non-toxic additive to the new material which encourages anaerobic microbes to begin breaking down the material once it is in an active enclosed landfill. With BioMoGo, the midsoles should breakdown in approx. 20 years (which is 50 times faster than standard midsoles) into nutrients that are useful to the environment, much less waste, resulting in smaller landfills. The Brooks running shoe BioMoGo midsoles won’t break down while you use them though, as they only start breaking down in the oxygen deprived environment when buried in a landfill. See the Brooks running shoes web site for information on BioMoGo.
