The Brooks Glycerin 8 is a Neutral shoe that has been awarded Runners World Editors Choice for Spring 2010. Once you start looking into the features of this revolutionary new shoe, you might start to understand why.
The Brooks Glycerin 8 is the first shoe from Brooks to contain their new technology called Brooks DNA. This fancy sounding technology basically means that the cushioning adapts to the unique needs of each runner. I know, I know, I think I’ve heard this from every single shoe company a thousand times too. So lets dig into what really has changed, there is actually some science behind this new technology that has nothing to do with DNA, but does have to do with the claim that the Brooks Glycerin 8 has cushioning that adapts to the unique needs of each runner.
To best explain this, why not check out this video by Brooks that explains the new technology in the Glycerin 8. You gotta watch it at least to see a person running over the top of a liquid without getting wet.
So now that you know what is going on with the new cushioning technology with the Brooks Glycerin 8, lets talk about the rest of the shoe and what kind of experiences people are having with it.
The Glycerin 8 also has its share of BioMoGo as did last years models, if you don’t know, BioMoGo is Brooks biodegradable material that they use in making the midsole of their shoes to do their part for the environment. The Glycerin has always been known as a good supportive shoe able to handle the foot strike of bigger runners. One common complaint of those on Runners World who have the shoe is about the fit of the heel, which some people are saying has led to heel/achilles soreness, so if you tend to have problems with your heel, make sure to try a couple sizes out. The heel is a little bit higher than the Glycerin 7, so you may notice the difference if you are planning on upgrading. The Men’s shoe weighs 12.6oz and the women’s shoe weighs 10.3oz.
