Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10

Winner of the Runners World Best Update for Winter 2009, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10 is a Stability shoe designed for light to average weight, normal-arched runners looking for a stable trainer. The shoe does have a lot of support for a Stability shoe, so if you are thinking a Motion Control shoe may be too much for you, but you want to maintain a good amount of stability, the Adrenaline may be a good shoe to try out.

If the environment is important to you, keep in mind that Brooks now uses BioMoGo to build its midsoles, which is a biodegradeable material. As if that weren’t enough, the Adrenaline GTS 10 has laces made of biodegradeable materials, too.

Improvements from last years model

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10 improved upon the GTS 9 by moving to asymmetrical upper overlays to secure the arch better.

In the heel area, the heel bevel was increased to create a smoother transition to slow the rate of pronation. The heel pad was moved to a “Caterpillar” heel pad, basically more segmented, to provide the right amount of cushion and stabilization right where you need it, as the segments can independently absorb shock.

The weight in the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10 was reduced for this year’s model by 0.2 oz. The men’s shoe weighs 11.1 ounces and the women’s shoe weighs 9.2 ounces.

Features maintained from last years model

The Adrenaline 10 still has the PDRB (Progressive Diagonal Rollbar), which is just a fancy name for the post on the medial side of the shoe that is responsible for most of its stability characteristics by helping counter too much pronation.

The cushioning in the forefoot and heel still uses HydroFlow, which is a fluid that enhances cushioning while not giving up flexibility.

With the Adrenaline GTS 9’s success, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10 has a lot to live up to, but from hearing from other runners who have made the step up to the 10’s, almost all have been pleased with the familiar feel of the 10’s.
