The Asics GEL-Nimbus neutral running shoe series doesn’t appear to be losing any momentum — not with a 15th version that somehow managed to thrill fans with new technology despite actually gaining weight.
Yes, the Nimbus 15 has Asics’ famous shock-absorbing GEL cushioning in both the rearfoot and forefoot. But this year it’s part of the shoe’s new FluidRide midsole. It’s a bouncier, more responsive delivery system for the GEL that we’ve come to know and love.
Fit to be tied
Beyond the awesome cushioning to which us high-arched folks have grown accustomed, Asics has taken steps to give the GEL-Nimbus 15 an impressively snug fit. The new FluidFit upper wraps the foot in multi-faceted stretch mesh, which provides a welcome facet of customization.
But the fit just keeps on comin’. Multiple heel technologies and special eyelets play their specific roles in keep the shoe firmly in place, mile after mile.

Solid choice overall
The fact that the Nimbus 15 actually added 0.7 ounces in both the men’s and women’s versions — up to 11.5 and 9.4, respectively — hasn’t scared off many runners. Not when the durability and comfort levels are so high.
At $145 instead of the $115 price tag for the Asics GEL-Cumulus 15, it might not be the No. 1 best value available for a neutral trainer. But it’s certainly not a waste of money.
